In early September 2011 I traveled from my home in Southern California to the Northern California city of Berkeley, which is located just across the bay from San Francisco.
I was there to meet with members of my organization’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). I had a great time speaking to our EAP leaders on the benefits of walking for both mental and physical health. I also talked to them about the Every Body Walk! program and showed them the inspiring video from our site of the Iverson Mall Walkers, which they loved.
Of course, I was able to get out for a great walk while I was there. A gorgeous pathway circles the Berkeley Marina, and it’s a perfect place to walk. The weather was fantastic, so it was especially beautiful to see the great views of San Francisco, along with the Golden Gate and Bay bridges. The chance to go for a long walk was the highlight of my quick trip up here.
Hopefully you will find time to take a walk wherever your travels take you. It’s a great way to explore a new place or learn new things about somewhere you’ve been many times.
Walk on!
