The MoonWalk New York City is an overnight half or full marathon in which approximately 3,500 women and men will Power Walk through the streets wearing decorated bras to raise awareness and funds for local breast cancer causes. The MoonWalk is the signature fundraising platform of the UK-based charity, Walk the Walk.

Walk the Walk began in 1996, when 13 women Power Walked the New York City Marathon in their bras to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Since then, the charity has grown to include a wide range of Power Walking marathons and challenges across the globe. To date, Walk the Walk Worldwide has had over 300,000 participants in its events and has raised over $144,000,000 for vital breast cancer causes.

Walk the Walk America will host its second annual fundraising event in the United States in New York City on Saturday, July 26, 2014 – Sunday, July 27, 2014. The goal for The MoonWalk New York City 2014 presented by Empire BlueCross BlueShield is to make a significant grant to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center’s Breast Examination Center of Harlem, where over 80% of the patients are uninsured. The MoonWalk New York City is working towards ensuring that every breast cancer patient – regardless of where she or he lives or works or was born – has the access to highly-skilled, empathetic breast cancer care and medicine to achieve the best outcome, no matter their circumstances.
