Did you know that your feet have 26 bones, 33 articulations, 111 ligaments and over 20 muscles? Your arch has four layers of muscles–an indication that we are designed to be walkers. Learning to walk indicates a child’s progression from infant to toddler. But walking on two legs is uncommon among mammals.
A team from the University of Cambridge and Kyoto University in Japan have unveiled why they believe man evolved to walk upright. The team claims that it was essentially “first come, first serve,” and man evolved to walk upright so that they could carry more food in their hands, which boosted their chance of survival. Millions of years later, we walk on two legs instead of four. Experience the evolution of walking!
