Save Elysian Park

Every Body Walk! Campaign

Christine is the President of Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park. In 1965 the Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park was created after downtown business developers presented a plan to bulldoze the historic Avenue of the Palms in the Park and build the Los Angeles Convention Center! In response, the surrounding neighborhood communities organized and formed the Citizens Committee to Save Elysian Park, with Grace E. Simons as its first president. Their letter-writing campaigns and efforts were successful and the ill-advised plan to build the LA Convention Center in Elysian Park was abandoned.

For almost 50 years, CCSEP has continued its vigilance against the encroachment of self-serving interests and has survived years of hard-fought battles against overwhelming odds to preserve the integrity of Elysian Park.
