In just one day, 1,000 people will gather in Union Square Park for the biggest Vision Zero event in history. Will you be there for this historic event?

WHAT: Vigil for Vision Zero
WHEN: Tuesday, July 14 at 7 pm
WHERE: Union Square Park North
Rain or Shine

survivorOn this historic night, activists, politicians and members of Families for Safe Streets will make a bold pledge:
Traffic crashes are not “accidents.”

When we refuse to say “accident,” we are insisting that something could have been done to save lives. In just the past six months, more than 23,460 New Yorkers were injured in traffic crashes caused by fixable problems like dangerous streets and unsafe driving.

Vision Zero is the belief that no New Yorker should be killed or injured in traffic. Without concrete progress, the City of New York cannot reach Vision Zero.

2014 marks the formation of Vision Zero Now, a coalition of individuals, community organizations and New York City businesses that seek an end to traffic violence on New York City streets. In a platform of recommendations, New Yorkers are demanding the transformative changes that will make Vision Zero possible.
